Regarding real estate. I have lived in a condominium for over 12 years. no i am not an old person, nor do i sit around all day, being negative ( as i see one of the authors here feels most condo owners and dwellers are!) even people in town homes an single family homes can do that. hey life is what you make it no matter where you choose to live.Most people choose to buy a condominium because they are more affordable than single family homes. some people do not want nor need a single family home, nor do they want to purchase rental property and be a land lord, for various reasons! Also the property taxes on many condos can be less expensive than those of a single family home.IF they are well managed and have an attentive , knowledgeable, caring board ( association ) they are wonderful places to live!i have found that there are many poor conversions ( apartment buildings converted to condominiums) and newer developments with many problems such as owners of new developments not willing or refusing to turn control of buildings and associations over to the condo associations, board members steeling from reserve accounts , laundry proceeds etc! ( a reserve account is a separate usually a bank account that the board of directors known s the condominium association, maintains for repair and up keep of the building and the common areas of the property) often monthly assessments are not paid by some or many owners in a complex, fines nor fees are not paid! their may be a high rate of renting in a building or a group of condo buildings! the main reason people ( mostly young people I find that can not afford the high cost of a single family home, nor the down payment, high property taxes, up keep , etc, of a single family homes a condo or town home it seems to me are the choices young, middle aged and older people are making these days!)RENTERS I FIND OFTEN HAVE LESS RESPECT AND CONCERN FOR THEIR OWN AND OTHER PEOPLE'S PROPERTY, CAN BE MORE ROWDY, HELL RAISING THAN OWNERS, DO DAMAGE TO A BUILDING, ILLEGALLY SUB LEASE A UNIT ( CHANGE THE LOCKS WITH OUT PERMISSION OR NOTIFICATION OF THE OWNER, LAND LORD!) SELL AND OR USE DRUGS OUT OF A UNIT, ETC! YES U REALIZE THERE ARE GOOD AND BAD OWNERS AND RENTERS, HOWEVER IT IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AS A 16 YEAR GOOD CONDO , AND FORMER 4 YEAR RENTER A GOOD ONE AT THAT, MANY RENTERS DO NOT CARE! THEY WILL TELL ANY ONE, ( I JUST RENT HERE! I DO NOT CARE WHAT GOES ON OR HAPPENS, ETC! I CAN UP AND LEAVE WHEN MY LEASE IS UP, OR WHEN EVER I WANT! SOME JUST ABSCOND! I AM A WITNESS TO IT!)
OFTEN THE LAWNS, GARDENS INTERIOR, EXTERIOR OF CONDOS ARE NOT WELL MAINTAINED( KNOWN ALSO THE COMMON AREAS.0OFTEN THERE IS POOR COMMUNICATION, BETWEEN , OWNERS, RENTERS, MANAGEMENT, BOARD MEMBERS! SECRETIVE BUILDINGS ARE NOT NICE PLACES TO LIVE! CRIME IN A COMPLEX UN CHECKED IS A NIGHTMARE!POORLY MAINTAINED UNITS, FIRES, LEAKS, ETC, UNREPORTED, UN DEALT WITH! I LIVE IN AN AREA WITH MANY HIGH RISE CONDOMINIUM BUILDINGS , THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE PROBLEMS MANY OF THESE BUILDINGS HAVE HAD! THERE ARE SOME GREAT BUILDINGS, PEOPLE, MANAGERS! OH YES. I HAVE FOUND GOOD MANAGEMENT OF A BUILDING IS A RARE THING! OFTEN MANAGERS ARE LOYAL TO THE BOARD AND NOT THE OWNERS! I ALSO FEEL THERE WILL SOON BE A GLUT OF CONDOS ON THE MARKET! IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO SELL A CONDO, MORE SO THAN A SINGLE FAMILY HOME! SOME CAN BE GOOD INVESTMENTS. IF ONE CAN NOT OR DOES NOT WANT A HOME OR AN APARTMENT BUILDING, BUT WANTS TO BE A HOME OWNER, THEY ARE A GOOD ALTERNATIVE. OFTEN THE ONLY ONE. LOOK AT RENTAL RATES IN MAJOR AREAS TODAY. I FEEL YOU ARE BETTER OFF TRYING TO BUT SOMETHING THAN COLLECT RENT RECEIPTS FOR HIGH RENTS!

A FEW FINAL COMMENTS ON CONDOMINIUM LIVING FROM MY PERSPECTIVE.
Again there are many fine buildings with fine honest caring decent people. ( not perfect as only god is no human is perfect though I feel many think they are) Just as I tell a female close relative of mine every man is not bad because her ex husband was!
However the following is what, how and why I feel many condominiums and apartments are troubled, dysfunctional, not what they could and should be places.
There are too many hidden agenda, secretive, non sincere controlling need to get and keep a life, too d----d nosy people in many of these complexes I have visited and I feel where I live.
I have personally heard people in the past say things like,( OH SHE IS TOO PRETTY, SHE WILL GIVE US COMPETITION FOR THE MEN SO LETS RUN HER OUT OF HERE! OR KEEP HER FROM MOVING IN HERE1 HE OR SHE IS OF , SUCH AND SUCH A RACE,TOO YOUNG, OLD, HAS A FAMILY OR KIDS, CAN;T HAVE THEM HERE OR MOVING BUYING HERE.! HE IS IN A WHEEL CHAIR,HALF BLIND OR BLIND, SHE IS BLIND, OH THOSE ---ER ----NG PEOPLE MAKE ME , US SICK, THEY GT TO GO1 THESE OLD PEOPLE, KIDS, ETC OH WE DO NOT WANT TO SEE THEM HERE1 AHH MAN THEY CALL THE POLICE, VILLAGE HALL, ETC AND THEIR LAWYER, WE BETTER GET THEM OUT OR KEEP THEM FROM MOVING IN HERE.) I WILL NOT SAY WHERE ALL I HAVE HEARD THESE COMMENTS, HOWEVER I HAVE HEARD THEM AND TOO MANY MOE, VERY EVIL AND NEGATIVE TO MENTION HERE1 THE TRUTH HURTS THOSE THAT LIE AND LIVE BY A LIE, BUT MAKES THE REST OF US HONEST STRAIGHT UP FOLK EVEN MORE FREE! AMEN! RIGHT ON !
BEING TWO FACED IS OFTEN THE NORM SAD TO SAY! Being DECEITFUL, CONCEITED( RESIDENTS, MANAGEMENT MEMBERS BOARD MEMBERS ALSO) is to be expected.
Also there is the fact I find in many condo and apartment buildings, favorites and cliques exist. who one knows and not just what you know ( or who you know it on! )THEN WHEN ONE TELLS THEM THE TRUTH THEY GET ANGRY, STOP SPEAKING, ACT EVEN SNOOTIER, OR RETALIATE,OR AT LEAST TRY TO! THEY KEEP THINGS HIDDEN FROM ALL OWNERS AND OR TENANTS NEED TO KNOW ALL TO OFTEN. TIL THE LAST MINUTE.THE MEAN SPIRITED NESS, COMMUNICATION( BREAK DOWN BREAK UP, FRIGHTENING PEOPLE TO KEEP THEM QUIET, ETC I HAVE SEEN THIS I WILL NOT MENTION BUILDING NAMES FOR LEGAL REASON, I HAVE SEEN IT ALL TOO OFTEN! IT IS A DARNED SHAME AND WRONG, MOST LIKELY ILLEGAL! ) DOWN RIGHT HARASSMENT AND THUGGING OF PEOPLE IN TOO MANY OF THESE TYPES BUILDINGS!
FRANKLY, IF I HAD THE MONEY ( I AM NOT A BIG SHOT THOUGH I HAVE A FAMOUS NAME MANY FEEL WE ALL ARE JUST FULL OF MONEY AND THEY WANT TO NOT ALL BUT TOO MANY STICK FEES, SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS ON US! HAVE THINGS GO WRONG IN OUR UNITS, APARTMENTS NOT OUR FAULT AND STICK US WITH THE BILL! ) I WOULD BUY A HOUSE, TOWN HOME OR RENT A NICE APARTMENT. THESE PLACES AREA TOO OFTEN, BUT NOT ALWAYS, NOR ALL OF THEM, A GIANT!,PAIN IN THE -SS! I HAVE DISCOVERED. TO LIVE IN A NICE HOTEL! WOULD BE MUCH BETTER IN THE LONG TERM I FEEL.
Then I feel MANY THINK THAT WE OWNERS, TENANTS , ETC, ARE STUPID AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT REALLY IS AND OR HAS GONE ON! DO NOT GET PISSED ANY ONE I DID NOT CALL ANY PERSON OR BUILDING NAMES, YET ! ,THOUGH I COULD!
Often one has to call or contact authority, their lawyer, family,MAYOR, COMMISSIONERS, etc in these places. I have known of women that got harassment threatened in condo and apartment buildings after they exposed, LIES, FRAUD, STEELING BY PEOPLE IN HIGH PLACES, POOR MANAGEMENT, COVER UPS, SEX FOR FAVORS, ETC! I MEAN ANONYMOUS PHONE THREATS, UNSIGNED NOTED SLIPPED UNDER DOORS,GARBAGE DUMPED OFF A BALCONY ONTO THEM!AND OTHER TYPES OF HARASSMENT. I HAVE GOT SOME OF THIS MY SELF AS A MAN IN PAST. I LEGALLY AND AS A REAL NON WUS NOR --- MAN GAVE IT BACK TO THEM TRIPP LE AND STAYED MORAL AND LEGAL ALL THE WAY!
TOO OFTEN I have gone to board or other meetings and felt few cared and the ones that do have no power, or are being given hell for , caring, SPEAKING UP AND OUT!

SAYING FOOLISH THINGS LIKE, ( WHY DO WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AT SCHOOLS, PARKS, LIBRARIES,ETC? WHEN OUR FRIENDS JUST CARE ABOUT A CERTAIN COUNTRY, OR THE CITY, OUR OWN!
YOU HEAR A LOT COMING DOWN A STAIR WAY OR ELEVATOR, OK? WALLS ARE THIN IN THESE PLACES TOO!

SPYING, LYING, ASSUMING, IS ALL TOO COMMON SADLY. SLIPPING FAVORS, MONEY, PUSSY CAT OR RICHARD IS I FEEL ALSO!TOO COMMON.\
I once head a few former board and management types in several of these places say, (I OR WE HAVE TO LOOK AFTER OUR, OUR FRIENDS, OUR PEOPLE, ETC! THE H-LL WITH EVERY ONE ELSE! WHAT ABOUT ME, AND OR MINE1 ) THEY ARE JUST ANOTHER DOLLAR BILL, HEY KNOW THEY HAVE MONEY, HIS SISTER WITH HIM IS A BIG SHOT WELL OFF NURSE IN OR ( WHEN IN FACT THIS LADY IS A SECRETARY NOT AN OR NURSE NOT WELL OFF) !
THE LIES, ASSUMING, RUMORS I FEEL ARE SPREAD ON PURPOSE. ONE BOARD MEMBER ONCE TOLD ME. WELL WHEN WE GET ELECTED EVERY ONE SHOULD KEEP QUIET AND LET US DO WHAT WE WANT! ( EVEN REGARDING OUR LIVES AND MONEY!) OWNERS AND TENANTS TAKE TO MUCH AND TO TOO MANY PEOPLE ABOUT EVERYTHING IN OUR BUILDINGS.ME AND OUR BUDDIES GO WAY BACK IN THESE PLACES THEY WOULD SAY.
A few times here I have met some really nice ladies ( SINGLE, NON SLUTS, NON ETC.MANY DIFFERENT , NATIONALITIES, RACES, ETC, HEY THAT IS HOW I ROLL, OK? ALSO NO ONE ELSE'S CONCERN I FEEL AND KNOW! I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HERE AND IN OTHER PLACES EITHER) OTHERS STUCK THEIR NOSES IN MY AND OR OTHERS BUSINESS, PERSONAL THEN THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO GET MAD IF WE OR OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THIS BE DONE TO US SAY ANY THING ABOUT IT1 HOW HYPOCRITICAL, EVIL , AND DOWN RIGHT DIRTY , WRONG!!!( OH YEAH RACHELLE I USED 3 !!! LOL OK!!!!? )
NOT ALL THESE TYPES BUILDINGS, BUT TOO MANY CONTROLLING, HOME AND RELATION SHIP WRECKING, BITCHING ABOUT CATS MEOWING, DOGS BARKING, PETTY SILLY STUFF GOES ON, WHILE CRIME ( CAR JACKS, HARASSMENT, ATTACKS OF ALL KINDS!,ATTEMPT SEXUAL ASSAULTS, ETC IS KEPT UNDER COVER! )BUT IF YOU GIVE FLOWERS ( A SINGLE MAN TO A SINGLE LADY ) YOU ARE QUESTIONED, WHEN MANY TRY I SEE TO DEAL WITH OTHERS SPOUSES, GUY AND DOLL FRIENDS! OH YEAH!!
I have visited over 110 condos, town home and even apartments in the past 6 years,also seen stuff on line, etc. I feel many of these places are in need of a TOTAL BUILDING REBUILD, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR!MAYBE MANY A TEAR DOWN AND SOMETHING ELSE CONSTRUCTED ON THE SITES, I FEEL. THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS,TANGIBLE , INTANGIBLE, EVEN WITH THE INHABITANTS AND WHAT IS ALLOWED TO GO ON IN THESE PLACES, AND WHAT IS HELD BACK.
I FEEL AND WOULD URGE ANY ONE THAT WANTS TO OWN OR RENT IN A CONDOMINIUM ( OR RENT AN APARTMENT) FIND OUT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THE LOCATION, BLOCK, COMPLEX AND PEOPLE BEFORE YOU PUT EVEN ONE DOLLAR DOWN AND OR MOVE IN ENJOY, BE INVOLVED Do NOT GET PUSHED AROUND, OR BE PART OF A COMPLEX;S PROBLEM. KEEP YOUR EYES ( PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL) OPEN AT ALL TIMES1 BE REALISTIC AND RESEARCH FOR YOUR SELF.

YEAH WHEN YOU HEAR TWO WOMEN, TWO MEN OR SEVERAL PEOPLE GOING AT IT BUMPING GRINDING UP OVER YOUR HEAD AND NEXT DOOR! ALL ONE CAN SAY IS, NO NOT HERE. LETS SEE THE NEXT PLACE! SOME LIKE TO GET OUR SLEEP, GLAD IT IS NOT A PROBLEM NOW HERE.KINKY LITTLE DEVILS CAN SEEM TO FLOCK TO CONDOS ,ETC IT SEEMS.YOU HEAR THE CRASH OF AN OVER LOADED BY KINKS BED FALL IN A NEIGHBORS PLACE! SOME HAVE BEEN TOLD TO HUSH OR SHUT UP1 VERBALLY ATTACKED, PHYSICALLY ATTACKED, LOOK AT IN AN EVIL WAY AT MEETINGS AND OPEN HOUSES! HOW SAD AND WRONG! I FEEL IN THESE JOINTS! SPYING, LYING, ASSUMING, IS ALL TOO COMMON SADLY. SLIPPING FAVORS, MONEY, PUSSY CAT OR RICHARD IS I FEEL ALSO!TOO COMMON.\
I once head a few former board and management types in several of these places say, (I OR WE HAVE TO LOOK AFTER OUR, OUR FRIENDS, OUR PEOPLE, ETC! THE H-LL WITH EVERY ONE ELSE! WHAT ABOUT ME, AND OR MINE1 ) THEY ARE JUST ANOTHER DOLLAR BILL, HEY KNOW THEY HAVE MONEY, HIS SISTER WITH HIM IS A BIG SHOT WELL OFF NURSE IN OR ( WHEN IN FACT THIS LADY IS A SECRETARY NOT AN OR NURSE NOT WELL OFF) !
THE LIES, ASSUMING, RUMORS I FEEL ARE SPREAD ON PURPOSE. ONE BOARD MEMBER ONCE TOLD ME. WELL WHEN WE GET ELECTED EVERY ONE SHOULD KEEP QUIET AND LET US DO WHAT WE WANT! ( EVEN REGARDING OUR LIVES AND MONEY!) OWNERS AND TENANTS TAKE TO MUCH AND TO TOO MANY PEOPLE ABOUT EVERYTHING IN OUR BUILDINGS.ME AND OUR BUDDIES GO WAY BACK IN THESE PLACES THEY WOULD SAY.
A few times here I have met some really nice ladies ( SINGLE, NON SLUTS, NON ETC.MANY DIFFERENT , NATIONALITIES, RACES, ETC, HEY THAT IS HOW I ROLL, OK? ALSO NO ONE ELSE'S CONCERN I FEEL AND KNOW! I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HERE AND IN OTHER PLACES EITHER) OTHERS STUCK THEIR NOSES IN MY AND OR OTHERS BUSINESS, PERSONAL THEN THEY HAVE THE NERVE TO GET MAD IF WE OR OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THIS BE DONE TO US SAY ANY THING ABOUT IT1 HOW HYPOCRITICAL, EVIL , AND DOWN RIGHT DIRTY , WRONG!!!( OH YEAH RACHELLE I USED 3 !!! LOL OK!!!!? )
NOT ALL THESE TYPES BUILDINGS, BUT TOO MANY CONTROLLING, HOME AND RELATION SHIP WRECKING, BITCHING ABOUT CATS MEOWING, DOGS BARKING, PETTY SILLY STUFF GOES ON, WHILE CRIME ( CAR JACKS, HARASSMENT, ATTACKS OF ALL KINDS!,ATTEMPT SEXUAL ASSAULTS, ETC IS KEPT UNDER COVER! )BUT IF YOU GIVE FLOWERS ( A SINGLE MAN TO A SINGLE LADY ) YOU ARE QUESTIONED, WHEN MANY TRY I SEE TO DEAL WITH OTHERS SPOUSES, GUY AND DOLL FRIENDS! OH YEAH!!
I have visited over 110 condos, town home and even apartments in the past 6 years,also seen stuff on line, etc. I feel many of these places are in need of a TOTAL BUILDING REBUILD, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR!MAYBE MANY A TEAR DOWN AND SOMETHING ELSE CONSTRUCTED ON THE SITES, I FEEL. THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS,TANGIBLE , INTANGIBLE, EVEN WITH THE INHABITANTS AND WHAT IS ALLOWED TO GO ON IN THESE PLACES, AND WHAT IS HELD BACK.
I FEEL AND WOULD URGE ANY ONE THAT WANTS TO OWN OR RENT IN A CONDOMINIUM ( OR RENT AN APARTMENT) FIND OUT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE ABOUT THE LOCATION, BLOCK, COMPLEX AND PEOPLE BEFORE YOU PUT EVEN ONE DOLLAR DOWN AND OR MOVE IN ENJOY, BE INVOLVED Do NOT GET PUSHED AROUND, OR BE PART OF A COMPLEX;S PROBLEM. KEEP YOUR EYES ( PHYSICAL AND SPIRITUAL) OPEN AT ALL TIMES1 BE REALISTIC AND RESEARCH FOR YOUR SELF.

YEAH WHEN YOU HEAR TWO WOMEN, TWO MEN OR SEVERAL PEOPLE GOING AT IT BUMPING GRINDING UP OVER YOUR HEAD AND NEXT DOOR! ALL ONE CAN SAY IS, NO NOT HERE. LETS SEE THE NEXT PLACE! SOME LIKE TO GET OUR SLEEP, GLAD IT IS NOT A PROBLEM NOW HERE.KINKY LITTLE DEVILS CAN SEEM TO FLOCK TO CONDOS ,ETC IT SEEMS.YOU HEAR THE CRASH OF AN OVER LOADED BY KINKS BED FALL IN A NEIGHBORS PLACE! Are condos a good investment?
I feel condominiums can and are good places to live, however I do not feel in general they are the best investment one can make regarding real estate. I have lived in a condominium for over 12 years and am not an old person, nor do I sit around all day being negative (as I see one of the authors here feels most condo owners and dwellers are). Even people in town homes and single family homes can do that. Hey life is what you make it no matter where you choose to live.
Most people choose to buy a condominium because they are more affordable than single family homes. Some people do not want nor need a single family home, nor do they want to purchase rental property and be a landlord, for various reasons. Also the property taxes on many condos can be less expensive than those of a single family home. IF they are well managed and have an attentive , knowledgeable, caring board or association, they are wonderful places to live. I have found that there are many poor conversions (apartment buildings converted to condominiums) and newer developments with many problems such as owners of new developments not willing or refusing to turn control of buildings and associations over to the condo associations, board members stealing from reserve accounts, laundry proceeds etc! Often monthly assessments are not paid by some or many owners in a complex, fines nor fees are not paid!
There may be a high rate of renting in a building or a group of condo buildings! The main reason people cannot afford a single family home is that they cannot afford the down payment, high property taxes, upkeep, etc, of a single family home and a condo or town home it seems to me are the best choices for young, middle aged and older people these days.
Renters often have less respect and concern for their own and other people's property and can be roudy, doing damge to a building and illegally subletting a unit, changing the locks without persmition or notification to the owner, sell and or use drugs from a unit. There will always be good and bad owners and renters and in my persional experience of 16 years in a condo, many renters do not care what goes on around them, thinking that they can leave when trouble happens and can up and leave when they want to, rather than addressing the problems faced by other inhabitants.
Often the lawns, gardens, interiors and exteriors of condoes and not well maintained (known as common areas) and there is poor communication between owners, renters, management and board members making the accommodation not very nice places to live. Poorly maintained units with fire risks and leaks go unreported, undealt with and I personally live in an area with many high ride condo buildings and these are only a few of the problems which are known with this kind of dwelling.Here are come great buildings though often the management is more loyal to their board than they are to people who live in the condos. There is a glut of condos on the market and it can be difficult to sell a condo, moreso than to sell a single family home. Some can be good investments, though in general for the reasons already stated, condos are not the best investment that a person can make.They are a good alternative to those people who cannot or does not want to own an apartment or a home but wants, none the less, to become a property owner. It is wise to check out the area, and to talk with tenants to esablish whether a condo is a good investment, using common sense to guide you and research of the area in question which will help you to make a wise decision.
