Lionel Nixon is a public relations consultant. Mr. Nixon is the grandson of E. D. Nixon the primary organizer of the 1955 to 1956 Montgomery Bus Boycott. Mr. Nixon was most recently a guest on WVON 1690 am Cliff Kelly Show where he discussed the contributions to the civil rights movement that his grandfather made in recruiting Dr. Martin Luther King, bailing his assistant in as President of the Montgomery NAACP, Rosa Parks out of jail and working as a founding member with A Phillip Randolph in the Brotherhood Of Pullman Porters Union
Mr. Nixon attended Wittenberg University in Springfield , Ohio from 1969 to 1973 where he received a BA in Sociology. He attended 1979 to 1981 the University of Southern California Graduate School Of Public Administration in Washington DC where he studied Public Administration Organizational Management. Mr. Nixon was selected from among more than 10,000 housing and community development professional nation wide by President Jimmie Carter to participate in the HUD Intergovernmental Management Program in Washington DC in 1979 to 1981. Mr. Nixon is a former career federal employee who worked at the United States Department Of Housing And Urban Development for nearly 20 years. He also served for a year as an assistant to Congressman Danny K. Davis., Co Chairman of Congressmen Harold Washington and Charles Hayes's 1st Congressional District Housing and Economic Development Task Forces. He was the first African American to be elected President of HUD AFGE Local 911 since it's inception in 1950. Mr. served as President of the Coalition To Save South Shore Country Club Park which saved the park facilities from demolition. Mr. Nixon served as a organizer and social media advocate in both the 2008 and 2010 presidential campaigns of President Barack Obama.
Mr. Nixon has spoken on numerous radio and television shows , churches , civic organizations and community groups around the United States on the subject of his grandfather E D Nixon , the Montgomery Alabama Bus Boycott and the Browder vs. The City Of Montgomery Lawsuit that ended the legalization of segregation on buses in the United States by the power of United Supreme Court.
Mr. Nixon is 63 years old and was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.
